Sweet Pea Cottage Preschool of the Arts
is a fun, exciting, unique arts-based curriculum that
gives children a Passport Throughout the World where
we:
- Focus on a different artist, flower, and shape
each month and a different region, color, letter,
& number each week.
- Have regular special guests - working artists in
the community, dancers, musicians, actors, carpenters,
friends and family from the region we're studying,
even a bald eagle and a boa constrictor.
- Enjoy Circle Time, Music, Dance, Art, Nature Walk,
Obstacle Course, Theatre, Foreign Language, Story
Time, Yoga, Cooking Class, and more each week.
- Have a special fieldtrip class available on Thursdays
for 4-6 year olds. Recent fieldtrips have included
The Odyssey Maritime Museum, Symphony Soundbridge
at Benaroya Hall, Qwest Field, The Seattle Children's
Theatre, The Center for Wooden Boats, Kelsey Creek
Farms, Discovery Park, a local Bakery, Florist, and
Pet Shop.

Sweet Pea College, our kindergarten
preparedness program, is available for 4-6 year olds.
This program fully prepares our students for the kindergarten
experience - socially, emotionally, and academically.
The foundation of our program focuses on teaching positive
peer interactions and important character building values
such as honesty, friendship, stewardship, responsibility,
and perseverance as well as math skills and reading
readiness.

Unique scheduling and money-saving benefits:
- Flexible Scheduling: We offer sessions each day
9am-1pm, 10am-2pm, or 11am-3pm. We will work with
you to pick the days and times you wish to attend.
We customize each package to the specific family based
on what works best for you.
- Make-Up days: when your child is absent for a regularly
scheduled day, you have 30 days to schedule a free
make-up day.
- Vacation days: each quarter you have one week of
vacation, equal to the number of days your child attends
per week, which will be credited to your invoice.
- Drop In Days: We have a flexible drop-in program
on a space-available basis for just $42.50/day.
- Sibling Discount: When you enroll a second child
at Sweet Pea, you are eligible for a 15% sibling discount.
(Note 3rd child in a family is full price & 4th is
eligible for the discount.)
4.
Mixed age classrooms for children ages
2 ½ to 6.
5.
In addition to their extensive background
and experience in early childhood education, our teachers
are also dedicated working artists. In fact, there is
a good chance you've seen them on stage around town!
6.
We provide fabulous vegetarian, primarily
organic snacks and lunches created by a trained natural
foods chef. While they are largely comprised of foods
that children are comfortable with, our menus are carefully
tied to each week's regional focus so that children
experience flavors from all over the world.
7.
Regular communication:
- Daily Journals are provided at the end of each day
so parents know all about what their child did and
how their day went.
- Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled in Fall
and Spring quarters for a more extended discussion
with teachers.
- Meetings can be scheduled as needed with teachers
and senior staff to discuss anything that might be
going on with your child at school or at home.
8.
Potty training is not required. Diapers
are provided. We'll help you with potty training when
the time is right for your child.
9.
We have fantastic families at Sweet
Pea. There are many great ways to get to know other
families and become involved in the Sweet Pea community
including:
- Mom's Night Out each month.
- Monthly babysitting opportunities where we watch
your children while you go for Parents Morning Out
or Parents Night Out.
- Quarterly Events including Family Movie & Art Days,
Concerts, and Family Dinners.
- Friends of Sweet Pea - a volunteer parent-driven
organization helping make Sweet Pea the best it can
be!
10.
Last but certainly not least, we have
a fabulous location right on top of Queen Anne! |
